This is an interesting tale.

I went to the Calgary Zoo (Alberta, Canada) on Friday. It has a new 9', 8000lb statue of the hindu god Ganash at the entry to the Indian Elephant exhibit. I thought it was beautiful and even rubbed his belly seeing that it was one of the luckiest dates on the asian calendar - and I was lucky too - it didn't fall on top of me.

I just wondered what the fate of such a statue would be in America these days when you can't even put up a nativity scene in a public place - do you think a 8000lb Hindu god would fly under the radar?

.

The FundaGelicals would boycott the zoo.

Other than that, not much would happen.

Come to think of it......not much would happen.

In America you can put up a nativity scene if you choose....you just can't use government funds or property.

Would be a great attention getter for the area motels. All seem to be run by Hindu's. Or it would make for competition at Soledad, which I think folks there are saying the Cross is not a religious symbol.

Looks like she does a pretty mean frug, too.....or swim, maybe.

Clearly a good dancer, anyhow.

Ganesh is male.

You can tell because he is at least 2000lb overweight and Logos describes him as a good dancer - if he were female, Logos would describe her as old and bitter.

Bullshit......or elephant shit as the case may be.

She is obviously young, lovely and pregnant.

(Ok, she may need a nose job and a trip to the dentist, but, all in all......one hot little God.)

We have a paving stone with Ganesha on it in our street. We have a statue of an elephant too. I don't dig elephants.

I like elephants. They are majestic creatures. As horses and camels, they've been used as working tools for man throughout human existence. I like seeing them in zoos but not circuses, and think they should be returned to their native habitat to roam freely.

btw, isn't the elephant a symbol of good luck?
